Ensembles & Musicianship
Participation in chamber music ensembles combined with theory and aural classes are key factors in a well-rounded musical education and are both highly encouraged at the Grand School of Music. Making music within a group of musicians, pupils will gain valuable life resources and skills such as:

Communication and responding to others
Empathy
Acute awareness
Flexibility

Pupils who choose to supplement their private lessons with chamber music will be placed with students of similar ability level. Ensemble sessions will be one hour in length and will be scheduled in consultation with your principle teacher.

In keeping with international music education standards, the Grand School of Music will offer a Theory Class targeted at Grade 5 level of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and is a prerequisite for later practical exams. Please find more information on the ABRSM exams at www.abrsm.org/us

Our Aural Classes will be grouped into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels with each class running once weekly for a half hour. Pupils will be advised to attend in the term prior to any exam or as the principle teacher deems appropriate. Estimated ABRSM levels: Beginner (Grade 1-3), Intermediate (Grade 4-6) and Advanced (Grade 7-8).
